Comical Bird House

Comical Bird House

This project took flight when my wife declared: "We need a new bird house!" - a statement that sparked instant action, lest she take matters into her own hands. The project was born from the desire to create something unique and functional. I aimed to craft a design that would bring humor and ease of assembly (no glues required) while making cleaning and part replacement effortless. Though I initially avoided glue altogether, my perch concept proved challenging, necessitating its attachment with adhesive. A two-piece design for the locking pins also demanded modification, further solidifying their need for glue. Printing this project in two colors was a success, achieved by switching filaments after completing the base layers of the front, sides, and roof - just before adding images and text. With a 5.9 mm thickness at the "base" layer, filament changes can be made without issue once this milestone is reached. For optimal results, I recommend setting the first layer to .3 mm and subsequent layers to .2 mm, as deviations from these settings may yield unexpected outcomes. A 20% infill was used in my design. No hanging hole was included, allowing users to mount the house according to their preference. If adjustments are needed for the bird entrance or perch, I'm more than happy to make them! I hope you'll enjoy this project as much as I do! Please let me know if you decide to print it - your feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Don
