Comic Backstrip
thingiverse
Do you have single-issue comic books that you want to display on your bookshelf alongside hardcovers and trade paperbacks? The Comic Backstrip is a simple solution to get your favorite comics out of longboxes and onto shelves where they belong. This model uses OpenSCAD for customizable backstrip sizing. You need to tell the customizer the thickness, in mm, of your story collection. There's no straightforward equation to determine what thickness a certain number of comics will be. Some issues have more pages than others, or thicker stock covers. For example, my 9-issue collection of Blackest Night is 22mm thick, while my 9-issue collection of Warren Ellis' Fell measures only 16mm. The latter is typical, as Blackest Night consists of larger books. I used calipers to measure the thickness of these collections. A sample 20mm backstrip is included with the script and part pieces. This size fits collections ranging from 7 to 14 issues. This design includes a slot for labels. I create labels in Photoshop and print them at Walmart or CVS using their same-day 4x6 glossy photo prints.
