I regularly need to buy 40-pound bags of salt, and I like to carry them in pairs, but the built-in handles tend to cut into my hands. I'd seen handles before that people have bought for plastic shopping bags to help distribute weight and make them more comfortable to carry. I thought I might design a heavy-duty version of this to help me carry these salt bags. In just 15 minutes using Fusion 360, I came up with this solution. I love my TPU filament and it's perfect for an application like this. It's incredibly tough, somewhat soft, and a little grippy - exactly what you need for handles that will be carrying heavy loads. This is an easy print! You can use any type of filament, but the flexibility of TPU will certainly help let the handles slip in and out. Print them at 0.3mm layer heights and it's reasonably fast. Now, I have no problem carrying two bags at a time down our stairs! Hopefully, they'll help you too. You don't have to use these for water softener salt bags - use them for any bags you want to carry more comfortably.
