Combined camwheel and gear for sewing machine

This camwheel serves two purposes: one as a gear activated by two rotating pins and another as a camwheel guiding the zig-zag motion of the sewing machine. It's a Vroom and Dreesmann design, which has been widely distributed in the Netherlands, with thousands sold. However, due to the combination of plastic and metal parts, it tends to fail over time. The aging plastic and differing expansion coefficients between the metal and plastic lead to breakage. Similar defects may be found in other machines as well. We've encountered this type of issue frequently at Saved Tools Groningen, reminiscent of a previous camwheel design I created. Until recently, these machines were beyond repair because replacing the broken camwheel was impossible due to the shaft's inaccessibility. To overcome this limitation, we designed the wheel with two separate parts that are connected via a 3D printed link with pins fitting into corresponding holes. For added stability, some hard PVC glue can be applied if needed. When printing this wheel, remember to flip the box included to facilitate cutting it into two pieces.
