Combine Camo retexture for Dark Interval mod. This soldier, clad in a hazard suit-like armor with active camouflage capabilities, was once considered the baseline design for Combine troops, making him extremely common. At another point, he was dubbed the elite of the Combine ranks, implying his scarcity. Equipped with a sniper rifle and animations largely borrowed from HECU grunts in Half-Life 1, this soldier was destined to be a force on the battlefield. In 2016, the original model's full, uncorrupted source code was leaked, revealing its age and messiness. This outdated model had more in common with those of HL1 and was partially broken, featuring a dozen separate UVs that made it difficult to work with. We took this model by the horns, merging the UV into two large composite sections (feel free to inspect them) and addressing some mesh issues along the way. To re-rig the model for the Combine Soldier skeleton, we made significant adjustments. Now, this texture showcases his basic, uncamouflaged state. For active camouflage, a custom shader will be employed, one that unfortunately cannot be recreated on Sketchfab.
