Combination Safe 00 - for the Visually Impaired
pinshape
This is a remix of Combination Safe 00. With this remix, I have tried to make my original cryptex more accessible to the visually impaired, noting that not all the changes benefit exclusively those who are blind or partially sighted. The ratchet mechanism makes it easier for any user to line up numbers precisely. I welcome feedback from users with visual impairments. Key Modifications: 1) A new outer ring features braille characters 0-9 or a-j if read in that way. 2) The Inner Ring and Inner Shaft have been modified to work as a ratchet, allowing the rings to rotate only one way but holding at precise increments when turned in the opposite direction. This makes it easy to line up numbers, and the ratchet also creates a pleasing clicking sound as it rotates, making it possible to count the clicks instead of constantly feeling for braille characters. 3) Both the Bottom and Inner Shaft have two versions: standard and Gide Bar (GB), with the latter featuring two bars indicating where the combination is to go. Assembly Instructions are found in the original. Backward Compatibility In addition to key modifications, I've made several other small changes. As a result, only the following components can be interchanged between this remix and the original Combination Safe 00: Outer Rings, Bottom Lock, and Locking Tool.
