Column with standing figure
myminifactory
This column showcases an opulently attired Maya leader donning an immense, multi-tiered feathered headdress. The figure, accompanied by a diminutive attendant, also wears a collar adorned with three images of human visages and a lengthy beaded necklace. In his right hand, the ruler grasps a hooked obsidian sceptre, while his left arm is discreetly concealed behind a shield. Originally, the leader's countenance was painted a deep red hue but suffered intentional damage in ancient times. Carved columns are relatively scarce in Maya art yet frequently appear in the Puuc region of the Yucatan Peninsula.
