Column shaft by the Master of Cabestany Second third of the 12th century. Marble. 86 x 20.6 cm. This column, originating from the doorway of Sant Pere de Rodes monastery's church, was repurposed for centuries to hold the cross at Llançà cemetery. Three intricately carved capitals and other ornate details adorn this masterpiece, showcasing the remnants of the long-abandoned monastery, which was ravaged in 1798 and systematically pillaged between 1835 and its eventual downfall. Delicate sculptural craftsmanship weaves together sinuous borders with vibrant floral motifs and animals (lions and birds), exemplifying the exceptional artistic prowess of the skilled craftsmen. This is a pioneering 3D visualization exercise, allowing for an immersive experience of the relief in a single image.
