Northern Colossus Of Memnon: We at MAFTO and INSIGHT seized the opportunity, thanks to the gracious permission of the SCA and Hourig Sourouzian-Stadelmann, leader of the German archaeological mission in Thebes, to scan the best-preserved of two Memnon colossi as a template for our model's proportions at the Ramesseum. Our team skillfully utilized large scaffolds to complete a single-night scan, resulting in 2.5 million data points in our total model. Upon completion, our precise model of the colossus allowed us to confirm the exact fit of many smaller fragments belonging to the main pieces of the monument. The model also enabled us to obtain an accurate estimate of the statue's height and weight by extrapolating from the Memnon colossus dimensions.
