Colosseum Smoke Detector

As a sophomore at Morris County's Academy for Math, Science, and Engineering, I chose to reimagine Rome's historic Colosseum as a smoke detector. This iconic landmark attracts over 10,000 visitors daily due to its rich history and structural uniqueness. Despite facing natural disasters, the amphitheater has stood for two millennia. My family's accident prompted my decision, highlighting the importance of smoke detectors in ensuring safety. To design this unique smoke detector, I used Inventor, scaling down the Colosseum's dimensions. The elliptical shape presented challenges, as standard tools like engrave and emboss were invalid. Additionally, arranging pillars on top layers proved difficult. Overcoming these obstacles deepened my appreciation for the Roman Colosseum's design and its potential adaptability.
