The gigantic statue of a soaring raptor, originally adorned with vibrant gemstones in its eye sockets, was unearthed in the forecourt of the designated temple-palace at Tell Halaf. The entire complex, encompassing its structures, should be viewed as a revered sanctuary devoted to worship and ceremonial offerings. At the entrance to the temple-palace stood three colossal statues of deities perched atop their symbolic mounts. The gigantic bird statue, integrated into a decorative column and crafted with structural precision, rises above a capital. Although the bird may share a connection with the god-figures, its true significance remains undefined.
