Colored pencil holder
thingiverse
Colored pencil holder perfectly designed to accommodate prismacolor pencils along with other 0.29-inch diameter pencils. This sturdy holder can store up to twelve pencils per base, with two bases cleverly connected via a link to provide extra storage capacity. Pencils can be placed in the holder either tip-up or down, ensuring they remain safe from damage due to a clever step that prevents the pencil tip from touching the bottom of the holder when stored vertically. To attach the pieces together, 3mm filament 'rivets' are utilized, which not only provides stability but also a clean aesthetic look. Alternatively, using a screw and a nut could be another viable option; specifically, a 4-40x0.75 flat head machine screw from below with a nylock nut on top would work effectively. To ensure the holder functions properly, precise measurement of both pencil holes and end holes is critical. For this reason, I've included a test piece titled 'base2_test.stl.' It's highly recommended to print a test copy, verify its accuracy, and adjust its dimensions accordingly before proceeding with actual production. The holder's design should ensure a snug yet gentle grip on the pencil, keeping it secure even when upside down without damaging the pencil wood. This optimal grip is made possible by incorporating sufficient spring into the thin walls of the base. To accommodate 3mm filament rivets effectively, the end holes are deliberately sized tightly; users may need to carefully clean up these holes using a drill bit if they're found to be too tight. I opted for printing with PLA using Cura software and employed the following parameters: * Layers: 3mm * Wall thickness: 1.05mm * Infill density: 25% * Top and bottom layers: 1mm During the slicing process, attention must be paid to the toolpath's design on the top thin part of the base. Small dots of infill within this area may occur if the wall thickness is too narrow; adjusting it slightly (+0.05mm) can effectively resolve this issue.
