The Column of Infinite, or Coloana Infinitului, is a renowned sculpture created by Romanian artist Constantin Brâncusi. It is located in Târgu Jiu and was built in 1938, along with other works by the same artist such as Table of Silence, The Alley of Chairs, and Kiss Gate. These works align on a street in town, with coordinates at 45°2'13.84"N, 23°17'6.66"E. Constructed from cast iron, the column stands 29.35 meters tall, covered in brass using a Swiss process of the time. It consists of 16 modules, each 1.8 meters high and is accompanied by a rectangular pedestal of 0.55 meters. For more information on Brâncusi and his works, visit the Guggenheim Museum in New York or see the sculptural ensemble in Târgu Jiu, Romania. A clip dedicated to Gorj County showcases these masterpieces from minute 20-24 (https://youtu.be/99ybfq8AAXU). In 1992, AutoCAD was used to create a model of the Column, which can be viewed in "Hello CAD Fans" Magazine (page 9, http://media.fastgrup.ro/Hello%20CAD%20Fans%20-%2009.pdf). The necessary data for this model was provided by the artist's father, Florin Stancescu, who resided in Târgu Jiu at that time.
