College Green, Bristol

thingiverse

This model was crafted from DSM LIDAR data provided by the Environment Agency through some Python scripts. It showcases College Green in Bristol, with City Hall's arc stretching along one side, Bristol Cathedral standing proudly on the left side and Park Street unfolding before us. The generated image is facing the rear of city hall. There are two STL files available - one utilizing a 1m DEM (26Mb) and another employing blocks of 4 elevations averaged. Notably, this method yields a more impressive result than using the 2m DEM and serves as the foundation for the final print. The printed model was produced using 3DFilaPrint white PLA, measuring approximately 78 x 64 mm in size and requiring 2 1/2 hours to complete on my Prusa I3. Unfortunately, the base is slightly warped and could benefit from improved fixation. The scale of this model is roughly 1/3000. Upon closer inspection, it appears that the real-life version looks even more impressive than its photograph suggests.
