Collar and Neck for Fanstoys Hoodlum
thingiverse
FansToys Hoodlum is a figure with vast potential and numerous flaws. I've aimed to enhance certain aspects of this new collar piece - \r\n\r\n* refined aesthetics, eliminating unsightly joints and adding deeper details\r\n* a secure fit that holds the torso together better, without dislodging parts when moving the arms\r\n* a new neck allowing for increased articulation\r\n\r\nRegrettably, this upgrade necessitates removing the piece for transformation, but it also offers an advantage - no risk of paint scratches when transforming the original collar!\r\n\r\nBugste81 proposed a similar idea and I've listed my part as a remix of theirs since I used their design as a starting point. \r\n\r\nAssembly and Installation - \r\n\r\nThe collar piece should fit snugly inside the chest piece with a well-calibrated printer. If too loose, you may need glue; if too tight, it will deform the struts of the chest piece and require adjustments.\r\n\r\nAttach the neck using a 2mm rod or pin. I use a flexible florist wire for this as it's easy to cut.\r\n\r\nRemove the original chest piece by awkwardly unscrewing the flat screw on the inside of the chest panel, and then remove the original head. This is an excellent time to install the optional face spacer - unscrew the head, insert the part into the screw hole to minimize the face recess in the helmet, and attach the head to the new neck.\r\n\r\nTo achieve the light grey V detail without damaging the figure, apply a piece of tape over the area of the chest panel where it will be visible. I used electrical tape for this purpose.\r\n\r\nInstall the new chest by dropping it into place over the chest panel and then pressing the front into position to push the peg into the original screw hole.\r\n\r\nEnsure the internal arm joints are in their grooves, press the chest and back together, and carefully squeeze the struts of the chest part over the back to lock everything into place.\r\n\r\nFold the back panel with the old neck joint up onto his back and tuck it inside the torso, securing it, then fold up the back panel with the spoiler as you normally would. I prefer leaving the orange panels folded in, but either way is acceptable.\r\n\r\nEnjoy!\r\n\r\n* Note: My Hoodlum is also equipped with shoulder joint upgrade parts by Pezley on TFW2005
