#Collapsing Sith Lightsaber This lightsaber features a detachable collapsing blade that can be printed separately in a different color. The hilt is designed with a screw-on cap, allowing the blade to be inserted after printing. It prints without supports, but requires a printer capable of producing the 205mm tall hilt. The blade is compatible with the original lightsaber but has an angled top, making it visible when collapsed. As a result, I included a shorter blade for this version. The hilt measures 213mm long with the cap installed, expanding to over 925mm in total length with the collapsing blade attached. This lightsaber is designed to be printed with a 0.4mm nozzle, resulting in a two-shell-thick blade. I experienced issues with blobs and zits at retraction until I enabled "wipe" and "coast." This was likely due to the thin walls and narrow clearance between blade segments. Every printer is unique, but I achieved good results using 0.15mm coast and 3mm wipe on my MK3. If printing the blade with translucent filament, seams are unavoidable. I created files for separate blade segments to be printed in vase mode at 0.85mm thick. A 0.8mm nozzle from Filastruder with 0.5mm layer heights was used, but a 0.4mm nozzle set to an 0.85mm extrusion width is also reported to work. I originally planned to print the blade in translucent PETG using vase mode, but the filament appears wet. I will update this information with pictures if I can successfully dry it out. There is a file named "test print." If successful, this should indicate no issues. If the blade fuses together, consider adjusting your coast, wipe, or extrusion multiplier settings. 6/4/19 - The file "BLADE-VASE-SITH-4.stl" was incorrect in size and has been corrected with the same name. Additional Collapsing Swords: * Pirate Sword * Broadsword * Katana * Dagger * Lightsaber (Print in Place) * Lightsaber (Removable Blade) * Jian (Print in Place) * Bo Staff More ideas are being developed and will be released soon.
