Collapsing Lightsaber (Removable Blade)

#Collapsing Lightsaber This lightsaber features a detachable collapsing blade that can be printed separately in a different color. The hilt is designed with a screw-on cap, allowing the blade to be inserted after it's been printed. The hilt measures 209mm in length with the cap installed but expands to over 950mm in total length when the collapsing blade is installed! This lightsaber is optimized for printing with a .4mm nozzle, resulting in a two-shell-thick blade. However, some users may experience issues with blobs and zits at retraction until they turn on "wipe" and "coast". This is likely due to the thin walls and narrow clearance between blade segments. Every printer is different, but I've had good luck with .15mm coast and 3mm wipe on my MK3. If you're printing the blade with translucent filament, there's no way to avoid seams entirely. To minimize their appearance, I've created files for separate blade segments to be printed in vase mode at .85mm thickness. A .4mm nozzle set to a .85mm extrusion width is also said to work well. For those experiencing trouble with the original hilt breaking, I've added a new design with thicker walls. Simply ensure your slicer is set to 4 walls when using a .4 nozzle. A blank template of the lightsaber is now available in STL and STP formats, allowing you to create your own custom designs. Please post a remix so I can create one too!
