Collapsible Grappling Hook
thingiverse
In my school days, I designed a wall-climbing device for stainless steel 316 in an FEA class. Although it was initially meant to be machined from the mentioned material, it can also be printed using plastic for experimentation purposes. However, do not attempt to use it for actual climbing and bear all risks involved. During its creation, a load analysis was conducted for the worst-case scenario of a 200lb load at the tip. I printed it in PLA but found it brittle when tested by tossing it with open arms (resulted in a breakage). For future attempts, I plan to use ABS as an alternative material.
