Collapsable Bread Slicer (Cutting Guide)
thingiverse
This is a compact bread slicer that can be disassembled into four manageable pieces to save precious storage space. Designed to accommodate loaves baked in standard 5" x 9" bread pans and knives up to 2mm thick, this slicer allows for easy customization by modifying the source code to support different bread and knife sizes. To build your very own bread slicer, you'll need to print three key components: a base, a slide, and two guides. Follow these steps to assemble your device: First, position one guide upright on a flat surface. Next, carefully insert the base onto the guide pegs, making sure it clicks securely into place. Now, stand the second guide upright alongside the first, creating a stable foundation for your slicer. Insert the other side of the base onto the second set of guide pegs, ensuring a snug fit. To use your bread slicer: Insert a fresh loaf of bread onto the base, positioning it securely in place. Slowly slide the loaf of bread along the guides until it reaches the stopper, a small notch that prevents the loaf from sliding further. Hold the loaf firmly against the stopper to prevent any accidents. Insert a sharp bread knife into one of the slits on the opposite side of the guide, carefully sawing through the bread until the knife reaches the base and the slice falls neatly onto your cutting board. Remove the knife and repeat steps 4-6 until you've sliced the entire loaf. **Important Safety Note:** Be extremely cautious when slicing the final few slices of a loaf, as the risk of injury is higher during this process.
