Coleman Poultry House Lantern
thingiverse
This is a printable model of a Coleman Poultry House Lantern from the 1920s, created for ease of printing by omitting several fine details. Four separate thing files are included: one featuring the entire lantern as a single piece and three versions split into three parts to minimize support material needed. The original design was based on rough measurements in inches, rounded to the nearest sixteenth of an inch. Since it wasn't scaled down or converted to metric when exported, you'll need to scale the model according to your slicer's requirements. Keep in mind that printing at full size (2540% scaling) will result in a massive lantern over 8.5 inches in diameter and 20 inches tall. Given this is a stationary, non-functional model, I chose to print it with 10% infill to save filament. Supports were used for several 90-degree overhangs, but printing directly to the bed without issues should be possible. To simplify assembly of the separate pieces, consider using Meshmixer to add pockets for glue. I've updated the design twice: once on April 29, 2020, with a "v2" featuring a small radius cut out in the frame that covers the filler cap; and again on May 1, 2020, with changes aimed at making the valve more accurate while maintaining easy support removal.
