I rejigged the original design to make it simpler to use. Tools needed are a vise or channel lock pilers and a c-clamp (to compress it), a 7mm hole punch and a 35mmx35mmx1mm piece of tooling leather. Turn the base upside down to punch the hole in the leather and then turn right-side up to knock the die out of the mold. This design makes a replacement leather cup that will fit any sized pump that uses the "standard" pump cups and they will easily replace any leather or neoprene pump cups. Steps to use: 1. Cut leather to size and soak in room temperature water for at least 1 hour 2. Place leather smooth side down onto mold and centre it 3. Please die tapered side facing leather and centre it 4. Press firmly to begin to push leather into mold 5. Using either channel lock pliers or a vice, slowly and evenly press die into mold until it is flush. Expect water to be pushed out of the leather. This is normal and good. 6. If using channel lock pliers apply a c-clamp to firmly press the die in flush and hold it it in place. 7. Leave it overnight in either the vice or c-clamp to dry and set. 8. Remove the clamp/vice and remove and water from the back hole and let it dry out for a few more hours. 9. Roughly trim the excess leather from the top of the mold. You don't need to be overly accurate here. Just get the excess off. 10. Turn the base upside down (flat side up) and put the mold on it upside down (ie die against the base) 11. Use the 7mm hold punch and with a few gentle taps cut the hold in the centre of the leather. No need to go hard here. If it doesn't cut easily you need to sharpen your punch. 12. Using a SHARP blade (I prefer #11 xacto) trim the leather flush with the top of the mold. It should be even and smooth all the way around. 13. Turn the base right-side up and put the upside down mold in it. 14. Gently tap the bottom of the die (visible where you punched the hole in the leather) until the die pops out of the mold. It should land and be held in the divot in the base. 15. The leather cup could be stuck to either the die or to the mold. Either way leave it for an hour to dry out more. 16. Gently remove the leather and soak in neetsfoot oil overnight and install. 17. Once installed operate the pump 20-30 strokes WITHOUT covering the hole in the pump to help set the final shape.
