The return hose on our Coleman 14' x 42" above ground pool blasts a strong stream straight into the center of the pool. Pools this size or larger require a diverter to redirect the return flow away from the inlet, creating a swirling vortex. Although the standard pumps are underpowered for this task, upgrading to a more powerful pump and sand filter can make it happen. The water will then spin with increased energy. The Coleman's fixed return port requires an alternative solution. This custom-made device fits snugly into the return opening from outside. Its rim prevents it from being pushed through completely. A hose slips over it and onto the coupler, held in place by a sturdy clamp that also keeps the diverter at its intended angle. Angle the opening to the side away from the inlet for optimal results. The result is a stream of water shot out at an angle, with increased pressure due to the smaller opening.
