Cold Hold - Drink Cooler/Holder
thingiverse
The Cold Hold is a fantastic drink holder that keeps your drink icy cold while you're enjoying it. It features clever cold packs that press snugly against the drink when it's resting, but quickly retract as soon as the drink is removed, providing a convenient space to place a fresh drink. These innovative cold packs are super easy to replace and stack neatly, so they won't hog valuable freezer space. Plus, the design includes mounting holes for customization, allowing you to embed it into a bar or poker table if you'd like - we can't wait to see your creations! I personally use a noname gel from corner-store ice packs - works like a charm! First, print out the base, two levers, and the cold packs. **Cold Packs:** Glue those pins on the side carefully - double-check the orientation before you start gluing! The pins should be near the back of the pack. Use Krazy Glue to secure them in place, applying glue along the entire surface. Hold for twenty seconds to ensure it dries properly. Next, dry-fit the lids to make sure they fit snugly inside the ice packs. If not, you'll need to use a file and gently sand down the back and sides until they fit perfectly. Once they do, fill the packs with your refrigerant gel, leaving 2-3mm of air at the top. Glue the lid into place securely - make sure to cover the entire surface to prevent leaks. If needed, apply a second coat of Krazy Glue on the outside. **Levers:** Dry fit those sides carefully to ensure they fit properly. When attaching them, double-check that they're oriented correctly (it's easy to glue them on backwards!). Check the tabs on the bottom lever and the receiving slots on the bottom for print artifacts - if needed, use a file or chisel to clean them up. **Base:** Once the levers are glued, try snapping one onto the base. Make sure it rotates freely - if not, remove it and use a 1/4" (or 17/64") drill to smooth out the hole carefully from the side to avoid breaking the snap mechanism. **Assembly:** Snap one lever into the base, leaning it back gently. Place the other lever in, interlocking the tabs on the sides of the arms, and snap the second arm in place. The two levers should now move freely up and down at the same rate - if there's resistance, you may need to remove them and smooth out the tabs or receiving holes. **Use:** Once assembled, simply chill the ice packs and you're ready to go! The cold packs can be dropped into place easily, allowing for effortless insertion and removal of your drink.
