Cold Brew Coffee
cults3d
Enjoy rich, cold-brewed coffee with this print! After several experiments and a few clogged filters, I arrived at this triple-filter design based on two 1-quart wide-mouth mason jars and progressively smaller filters. The cutaway drawing shows the final system stack-up. The recipe I'm currently using includes 1 cup of coarse-ground coffee, 2 cups of cold water in a mason jar, closed with a standard lid and ring, brewed for 6-12 hours on the counter. I insert a paper filter, made for basket coffee makers (8-12 cups), into the flat bottom filter section, assemble the system, and invert it to allow gravity to work its magic. To drink, I heat 1 part brew, one part water, and enjoy the result hot, but look forward to trying it over ice next summer. Please be aware that there are challenges to making 3D-printed objects food-safe. If you haven't already, consider using this as an opportunity to educate yourself. Update: increased the jar filter thickness for added robustness.
