#Cool as Ice ##Scale Model of Polar Temp Model 600 Outdoor Ice Merchandising Machine Nothing says cool like an ice machine; this is especially true during the "dog days" of summer. Usually found lurking on the outside of supermarkets, gasoline filling stations, and convenience stores, this particular ice machine holds eight-pound bags of crystal clear ice. In fact, up to 200 of these bags can be stored inside this machine. Rather than distributing eight-pound bags of ice, this model can be used as a "cool" key caddy, or add some "ice" to your dinner table condiment selection, or provide a safe place to keep your "cold" hard cash. With so many practical applications for this model, why not print several? In fact, I printed some and left them on top of the machines in my town. I noticed that they were all gone the next day—the power of the printed 3D model. ###The Model This is a 1:35 scale model of a Polar Temp Model 600 outdoor ice merchandising machine. Using this scale, the model becomes ideal for insertion into model displays and dioramas. There is one STL file that contains all of the parts needed to build this scale model. Likewise, it should be printable on any 3D printer that has a roughly 6-x6-inch printing build bed. Assembly consists of simple box, butt ends that overlap all facing joints. Just follow along with the supplied photographs for building your own ice machine. Testors Liquid Cement for Plastic Models (#3507) is recommended for assembling your model. As far as post-print processing is concerned, ordinary permanent-ink felt-tip markers are ideal for adding the requisite blue and silver colors. This technique makes it fast and easy to obtain professional-looking results without any messy cleanup chores. Enjoy. ###Reference You can learn more about outdoor ice merchandising machines at Polar Temp: http://www.polartemp.com ###Oh, and BTW I have just written a book about model building, well, it's not really about model building; it's more like a satirical look at model building. Anyway, it's supposed to be funny...very funny. But it's not for everyone, as the humor can border on offensive to some people, I guess. If you're a brave free-spirit, however, then this book might be for you. It can be ordered from Amazon in a softbound analog format ($24.95). Remember, buying this book enables me to continue providing great (at least, I hope they're great) FREE 3D models for you. Yes, it's a ridiculously paltry royalty payment, but if I'm able to sell over 100,000 of them I might be able to help my daughters attend college, too. So, think of it as a: win-win-win-win-win-win purchase (NOTE: I have three daughters). Oh, and the publisher is already talking about a second edition! Can you believe it? I am equal parts excited and humbled by the amount of attention that this book is receiving. Thank you and, also, thanks for reading!
