My Family and Me Create Custom Coins for Our Kid's Cash Register As a parent, there are times when you have to think fast to lift your child's spirits, and I'm no exception. Recently, our curious dog decided to chew up the original coins from our Learning Journey kid's cash register. The look on my son's face was heartbreaking, but instead of panicking, we turned it into an opportunity to get creative together. Since he had put so much time and effort into making his very own shop, I offered him a challenge: let's create brand new coins to replace the ones that were damaged beyond recognition. Not only did this activity help him overcome his initial disappointment, but it also gave us a chance to spend some quality time together. We started brainstorming ideas and came up with a few designs before narrowing down our choices to just one. Our creativity ran wild as we picked out different materials and colors for the new coins. I showed him how to cut them accurately using a craft knife, while he got to be in charge of adding the final details like writing and decorating. After completing each step, he couldn't help but feel proud of himself for contributing to our Learning Journey adventure. His eyes sparkled when we placed his freshly minted coins back into the cash register, ready to use for the next time he decides to open up shop. Not only did this project keep him occupied and entertained, but it also gave us a moment to bond over something we both love – playing together in the pretend play world of our kid's money game.
