Coin Trap

Students are tasked with exploring the significance of coins in every country's economy and culture by choosing a coin of interest. This project allows students to delve into a coin from any nation or government, past or present. Working in pairs, as many teams as needed, students identify a coin that sparks their curiosity. They measure its exact dimensions, then use Tinkercad to design a box that perfectly accommodates the coin. The team prints the box, pausing at 60% completion to place the coin inside an unfinished mold. If placed correctly and the dimensions are accurate, the printer continues to produce the box around the coin. After printing is complete, teams research online where their coin was minted and a significant historical event that occurred in the year it was minted.
