coil winder
thingiverse
this is my open source DIY wire coil winder project. you can build it as a hand crank winder or bolt in a nema 17 to create an automated winder using these same components. the base plate has a magnetic spot that triggers electronic turn counter functionality, which will be explained in greater detail via video. additional special bobbin and coil wind designs are scheduled for release in the future, featuring exclusive parts that cater to unique user needs. **IMPORTANT NOTE:** since 5/16 allthread is readily available in the usa while 8mm anything can be hard to source locally, i opted to use this specification. i chose zz608 skate bearings with 8mm through hole, and installed a 5/16 allthread rod, which might be slightly loose in some prints. if you're working with a different type of printer or prefer 8mm nuts, the blender files provided will allow you to adjust the design accordingly. also included are alternative STL files that enable the use of only zz608 bearings or employ special marked thrust bearing parts when operating at high pressure with future attachments. in anticipation of future enhancements, the video link above showcases the winder in action (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcjA28oWwvw) and the link below measures wire length accurately (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpbH7QE3hyY). interested users can participate in discussions related to this project through the forum link provided: http://www.irondmax.com/irondmax/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=869&posts=3#M10431. future additions will include a wire row former component and potentially nema 17 programming options.
With this file you will be able to print coil winder with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on coil winder.
