Cognition unfolds as people acquire knowledge by perceiving, experiencing, and thinking. A cognitive garden fosters learning through perception, experience, and thought while introducing individuals to the natural world. Although nature's benefits extend across all ages, young children primarily learn through their senses and numerous studies have shown a strong link between sensory stimulation and brain growth. The objectives of this initiative are to establish a garden that stimulates cognitive development and experiential learning through sensory stimulation and self-directed play while also creating a garden that draws children outside and builds a lasting connection with nature and their community.
