The coffin ensemble of Taditjaina makes up a set consisting of an outer coffin (inventory number 150a; approximately 76 x 193 x 73 cm) and an inner one (inventory number 150b; approximately 43 x 173 x 48 cm). These coffins are possibly from the Theban necropolis, dating back to the start of the 26th Dynasty (approximately 664–525 B.C.). Both coffins fit together perfectly. The two coffins and the mummy of lady Taditjaina were given as a gift to the Württembergian royal house by the German consul to Alexandria, Mr. von Dumreicher, between 1820 and 1830. Later in 1911, they were donated to the University of Tübingen. The wooden coffins are covered with white stucco and feature polychrome scenes painted in red, black, blue, dark green, and yellow. The inscriptions on the coffins depict various scenes and texts from the ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead—a guide for navigating the afterlife. These texts aim to ensure the continued existence and provision of Taditjaina, the lady of the house, a noble one, in the Netherworld (inventory numbers 150a–b).
