Coffee & Pi (Raspberry Pi in a coffee can)
thingiverse
I found a bunch of empty coffee containers just lying around and needed something to hold this Pi, so I made this. The can's diameter is 156mm. First, I painted it black to block out light, then white to reflect it. We'll see how well it holds up over time. I might cover it with something else for UV protection once it's set up permanently. The paint on the lid where I flexed it is already peeling off, so I need to touch that up when it's done. 96 cents a can from Walmart - what did I expect? The mount is made to fit onto a piece of 1/2" EMT. I put screw holes in there, but didn't use them. Instead, I just used silicone to glue and seal everything. This camera mount is for a Pi Noir camera with a 14mm diameter lens. You'll need a piece of Lexan for the window - put some tape where the lens will be during installation. Drill a hole in the bottom for the wires to come in, and it probably wouldn't hurt to throw a bag of desiccant in there too. The LEDs are salvaged from an old security camera and soldered in series. I added a 330ohm resistor in line to connect to a 12.5v power source - this keeps the current low and the light is more than adequate for what I'm doing. Paint the LED mount before you install the LEDs. It would have been cool to bed the LEDs in some 5 minute epoxy after testing, but I didn't have any so I guess silicone will have to do. http://hivetool.net/index.shtml https://github.com/rcrum003/HiveControl
