The coffee spectrometer design, which can be found at http://publiclab.org/notes/warren/08-08-2013/design-for-coffee-spectrometer, is still a work in progress and requires components such as a diffraction grating, a blacked-out interior, collimating mask, LED light source, and a smartphone running http://spectralworkbench.org. For a physical model, check out https://www.shapeways.com/model/1262738/coffee-spectrometer-housing.html, which was created in Sketchup, exported as an .obj and printed nicely. The design is released under the CERN Open Hardware License 1.1 (http://publiclab.org/licenses).
