A Coffee Grounds Saver! It keeps coffee grounds from spilling on your countertop. I created this simple gadget for a friend who was frustrated that coffee grounds would spill over the edge of his portafilter basket (yes, that's what it's called, though most people probably call it "a filter handle and that thing you put coffee into"), making a mess. He was thrilled with it and uses it all the time now, so I thought it was worth sharing, despite its simplicity. The photos show how to use it if it's not clear from its design. Here's what you do: - Attach the Coffee Grounds Saver to the portafilter basket, - Fill it up as usual until the conical profile ends, which should give you the right level, - Remove the Coffee Grounds Saver, - Tamp down the grounds and proceed with making your morning coffee! I recommend printing in a dark material because coffee grounds will gradually stain the plastic even with regular washing. Black is a great choice as it looks classy and won't show browning as much.
