Code Kitty Robot v1.0
thingiverse
Introducing the Code Kitty Robot The Code Kitty robot is a 3D printed robot designed to teach kids coding. Developed by the Code Kitty non-profit, it's affordable enough for every kid to learn engineering, coding, and robotics. We offer the robot free to workshop participants or sell complete kits under a "buy one/give one" program for $50. The 3D printed parts are identical, but there are two electronics builds: the Workshop Build and the DIY Build. In either case, you'll need to print a base, face, tail, wheels, and hubcaps. We recommend printing all parts of the same color in one job and combining small parts for efficient printing. The Workshop Build This build is used on hands-on workshops to teach coding, computational thinking, and engineering skills. It features 3D printed parts, an Arduino Nano, SG90-compatible servos, rubber bands, an LED, dupont-style wire, a pipe cleaner, our custom Breakout Board, a battery holder, AA batteries, and an optional standard-size marble. Optional sensor modules like infrared object avoidance or light sensors can be added. Build instructions, software, and coding information are available at codekitty.org (click "How"). The DIY Build If you don't have the custom breakout board or prefer to build it yourself, you'll need all hardware parts except for the battery holder and Breakout Board, along with a 400-point mini breadboard, flat-style four AA battery holder, and piezo buzzer. To connect components, place the battery holder on the sticky back of the breadboard and set it in the robot base. Place the Arduino Nano in the center of the breadboard and connect components to the following pins: A0: Piezo buzzer A1: Sensor VCC D9: Left Servo D10: Right servo D13: Tail positive Please see the Arduino Servo Page for information on wiring servos, but use the listed pins for the Code Kitty arduino library to work. Finally, connect with us on Facebook and Twitter and post your makes if you create our kitty! Happy making!
