Cocito Weather Station

Hey guys, these are the 3D printed parts for our project Cocito Weather Station! Micromet did an awesome job designing his radiation shield. Here are the changes we made to adapt it to our project. You can find more info on the Hackaday project page https://hackaday.io/project/11278-cocito-weather-station. THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS, SO PLEASE ASK US IF YOU HAVE ANY DUBTS TO AVOID WASTING FILAMENT AND TIME. EDIT 20/07/2016: modified vertical mount to perfectly fit Sparkfun Weather Meters; added PM 2.5 laser dust sensor mount. Print Settings: Printer: Prusa i3 Hephestos Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Infill: 75%-100% Notes: Layer height: 0.2mm Shell thickness: 1.2mm Print speed: 30mm/s Printing temperature: 215°C Filament: BQ 1.75mm transparent PLA ABS should work better, but we couldn't print it, so we decided to use PLA, which should be strong enough. To replicate our project, you need to print 6 radiation shields, 2 cable holders and one piece for each other file. Post-Printing: Painting Firstly paint them with white spray painting. This will absorb solar radiation and provide some protection to the plastic. 3-4 coats should be fine. Building Tap to section for 6mm threads Then cut 3 pieces of 6mm threaded rod, about 15-16cm long. Install all-thread for vertical support and insert the shields (you may need to enlarge the holes with a drill). Add the base plate and the mounting bracket. Secure everything with nuts. It should look like this. Look at micromet's project page (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1067700) for more detailed mounting instructions. Mounting the sensors Simply fit each sensor in its bracket with a bit of force. Then use some screws or glue to keep them in place. Run the cables through the base (you may have to drill some holes).
