Cobra SRV-9 (G.I. Joe)

The Cobra Submersible Reconnaissance Vessel Mark 9 (SRV-9) from the GI Joe comic book issue #8 I read as a kid was an incredible vessel that never made it to toy lineup. Based on pictures in the comic book, I estimated all of its dimensions and visualized how amazing this would be as a toy to play with. Armed with a pair of deck guns and a float plane available separately, I thought this would be an awesome toy to have. Now, in 2019, I finally have one (and you can too, if you print one for yourself) and it's perfect for launching the Night Landing rafts, rendezvousing with Moray hydrofoils, or refueling Sea Rattlers at sea. This is a large model, estimated to be about 40 inches long in real toy form, and since I intend it to be printed at 25% scale, it just fits on my 10x6 inch print bed. As with all the vehicles I model, I use them with 15 mm scale infantry for epic battles. My finished model weighs 110 grams, which means it cost me about $2.33 in material to print one. This file is free to download and listed as non-commercial; neither you nor I can sell physical copies of this 3-D model, but you're allowed (and encouraged) to print copies for your own personal use. By now, you should be able to figure out how to print these. Print the 'show' side up whenever possible and supports as needed. Guns, the flag, etc., are generally printed so the barrel is parallel to the build plate - this gives the part greater strength. Two versions of the hull are available: a waterline version for wargamers and an uncut version for those who want to push it around in the bathtub. Important note: the hull of the waterline version is not cut parallel with the deck, but angled at 0.65 degrees. I wanted to give it a sense of motion, so I pitched it slightly. You'll need to take this into account when placing it on your build plate, or you'll have annoyingly small supports to clean off. The file "SRV-9 replacement rail" is for those who, like me, broke one of the front railings off and didn't want to reprint the whole thing. Memorial Day 2019; remembering those who died so people like me can live in peace, freedom, and create silly plastic toys like these. Above all others, they are "Real American Heroes." Thank you.
