I am completely obsessed with this GI Joe toy - it's genuinely my all-time favorite! The assembly process can be quite challenging, but I'm convinced that the outcome makes it all worth it. Specifically, permanently attaching the wings is where things get really tricky. Here's what I learned from experience: make sure you glue the Wing Support piece to the underside of the plane first. This clever little trick provides extra surface area for a more secure wing attachment. To help illustrate this point, I've included an image showing the underside of one of my planes. One reason I built the wings as separate pieces was because the toy's engines and wing tips rotate 90 degrees when taking off and landing vertically - it looks incredible! Unfortunately, it took me a while to realize that separate wings would make them more prone to detaching. To mitigate this issue, I created the "wing support" feature later on. To ensure optimal results, I designed this model based on my original toy and utilizing 6-inch calipers for accuracy. Even though the file is provided in full scale, I've optimized it specifically for printing at 25% to balance detail and quality. If you venture beyond this range, your print may end up either too detailed or lacking sufficient features. It's essential that I extend my deepest respect and gratitude to our military personnel (past and present) who protect the freedom we all enjoy today. Their selflessness inspires me to be more empathetic towards those around me - truly the epitome of American heroism.
