Cobra Radar Detector Mount Suction Cup Adapter
thingiverse
Here is a very specific issue I had. I own a Cobra SPX 7800BT radar detector and one of its suction cup windows was severely damaged. I found high-quality replacements at Hobby Lobby with the perfect diameter, but they couldn't fit snugly into the bracket. So I created this custom adapter to provide the extra width and thickness needed to securely hold the suction cups with my mount. I'm not aware if anyone else will need something like this, but it could serve as a valuable starting point for others who face similar challenges. Instructions The black one shown was printed using PLA, however, I live in a region where ABS is a must due to environmental conditions. That's why the brown version of the adapter/shim was printed with ABS material. Firstly, attach the first suction cup into its designated spot in the radar detector mount. Next, place the shim to securely hold it in place within the mounting system. Then, insert the second suction cup and rotate the shim around it until it fits snugly. You may need some extra maneuvering to get it to snap firmly into position. This ingenious design provides enough thickness for the adapter to remain securely fastened onto the windshield as well as pushing outwards against the smaller opening areas in my window holder mount to ensure everything stays safely attached.
