Cobblebot - Chimera Mount

Cobblebot - Chimera Mount

thingiverse

This mount works with the Chimera on Cobblebot's standard mount plate. You must turn the plate upright for better wheel and bearing fitment. It has a holder for an 18mm induction sensor. Four 20mm M3 screws and four 20mm M3 lock nuts are needed to attach the plate to the mount. Three 16mm M3 screws will also be required to attach the Chimera to the mount. Print Settings Printer: Cobblebot Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 50% Notes: This was designed using Makergear PETG at 240 degrees Celsius. Design Process This design originated in OpenSCAD. I observed that Thingiverse is crowded with Prusa i3 mounts and every time I installed a new hotend on my Cobblebot, I needed to create a new mount. So, I created an adapter plate that would enable me to use the Prusa i3 mounts on my Cobblebot. This is my third Cobblebot. The initial version was a quick OpenSCAD design with holes matching the Cobblebot plate and four holes for the Prusa i3 mount. The idea was to print the Prusa mount, attach it to the adapter plate using screws, then attach the adapter plate to the Cobblebot. Over time, I realized that I could import an STL into OpenSCAD instead of attaching a separate mount to the adapter plate. This reduced the complexity and made the model more compact, freeing up print space. The source code for this design is included in case others want to create custom mounts for their Cobblebots. Just ensure that the STL file being imported is located in the same folder as the OpenSCAD file.
