I laid out the printer horizontally, carefully removing the build plates from the finished object, before using it as a makeshift tool to reel in another 50 feet of filament into the ongoing project. The technique proved effective, and the extruder held firm throughout the initial pull, allowing me to safely stash it in my bag for future use.
