myminifactory
The crest of the Alidosio family proudly displays an eagle on its shield, with the bird facing left in a position known as contourné. This emblem is part of a collection of four items that once adorned the Palazzo Alidosio in Cesena, Italy. The palace itself was constructed by Obizzo Alidosio in 1508, after being commissioned to do so by Pope Julius II. As a trusted envoy for the Pope, Obizzo had been tasked with various missions, and he was later appointed Papal Governor of Cesena in 1508. With his new title came permission to build a palace, which Obizzo promptly began constructing before his untimely death just one year later. The Palazzo Alidosio would eventually undergo a transformation into a theatre, standing tall until its eventual demolition between 1838 and 1846.
