Francesco, seventh Prince de Carrara, forged strong political ties with Ludovico of Hungary. As a result, he received control of Feltre and Cividale in 1360. Francesco's support during the wars against Venice in 1372 and 1337-1378 was invaluable. Perhaps as a gesture of gratitude, three large urns were built by Francesco il Vecchio around the mid-seventies. These urns, possibly sepulchral, were already mentioned in ancient texts within the castrense enclosure. Two capitals, one significantly larger than the other, provide insight into the Gothic decorative forms popularized in Padua during the 14th century.
