Coat Hook
thingiverse
I'm taking a digital fabrication and design class at UW Milwaukee, where I recently completed a project for our coat hook unit. For the final coat hook I designed, I chose a bold pink color scheme, which adds a pop of personality to this everyday item. The coat hook features an internal compartment that's perfect for storing keys, bus passes, or mittens during the winter months. You can also hang a bag from the base while your coat hangs above it. This design is part of a larger project I'm working on, which involves reimagining everyday objects like coat hooks with queer designs. In my design, I referenced the pink triangle as a nod to its significance in queer culture. However, I kept my design minimal and functional because these qualities are essential when considering household design. This coat hook is my take on a basic queer design for a queer home. Right now, I'm working on modifying this design by adjusting the proportions and angle between the small triangle base that attaches to the wall and the larger triangle profile that sticks out.
