Coaster Glass Bib

I have always enjoyed drinking cold water throughout the day. In the past, on a hot, humid day, I would wrap a paper towel around my glass with a rubber band to keep it there. When I bought my Mini last fall, I wanted design a way to capture the condensation without wasting paper towels. I designed this model to be a coaster that gathered the condensation in a chamber under the glass. I added spring “pedals” around the base to grab on to the glass. There is gap on the opposite side that you drink from the glass to pour out the condensation. More detail: The pedals have a spacer to allow the condensation to run down the glass into the coaster. The perimeter of the coaster has a vertical edge and leading to a sloped surface for the water to roll to the middle of the coaster. The radial vertical spacers that the glass sits on is held back from the edge. This prevents the condensation from pouring out as you drink but allows the condensation to roll around to the opening on the far edge. I printed using PETG to allow for the flex of the pedal. A PLA version quickly broke. This summer I have noticed that the condensation reservoir fills up quickly and I need to empty every now and then.
