Coanda 1910

The Coandă-1910, designed by Romanian inventor Henri Coandă, was an innovative sesquiplane aircraft with a ducted fan engine. Dubbed the "turbo-propulseur" by Coandă, its experimental power source comprised of a conventional piston engine driving a multi-bladed centrifugal blower that exited into a duct. The unique aircraft garnered attention at the Second International Aeronautical Exhibition in Paris in October 1910 due to its lack of a propeller, but it was never displayed again and faded from public memory. Coandă later employed a similar turbo-propulseur to power a snow sled, though he did not further develop it for aviation purposes.
