CO2 Scrubber for aquarium protein skimmer
thingiverse
A carbon dioxide remover is an essential piece of equipment that effectively absorbs excessive carbon dioxide (CO2) from the surrounding air. Excessive CO2 levels can directly impact the pH of your aquarium, and with a lower-than-ideal pH, corals may not grow as rapidly as they should. By connecting a CO2 scrubber directly to the venturi on your protein skimmer and combining it with CO2 absorption media, you can precisely control the amount of CO2 being drawn into your skimmer, thereby increasing the pH of your tank by removing excess CO2. Carbon dioxide is one of the most prevalent causes of low pH in household aquariums. Ambient CO2 levels can vary significantly from building to building and depend on your location, making it difficult to maintain a consistent source of fresh air from outside into the protein skimmer. By relocating the protein skimmer's air intake from the silencer over to the CO2 scrubber, you can actually increase your tank's pH by several points. Depending on the amount of ambient CO2 in the room, it is not uncommon for tanks to rise from 7.8 pH up to 8.3 pH within a couple of days. Results may vary significantly. Dimensions: 4.33 x 4.33 x 8.66 inches - 1 liter This CO2 Absorption System is designed to hold CO2 Absorbent Media (Soda Lime). Don't forget to insert a sponge between the bottom grill and the absorbent media for optimal performance.
