Co-Axial Magnetic Gear
grabcad
Figure 1.4 displays the topology of a co-axial magnetic gear featuring rare-earth permanent magnets on both inner and outer teeth, with a stationary ring positioned between two rotating components. The stationary ring modulates magnetic fields in two air gaps, crafted from laminated ferromagnetic materials to ensure optimal magnetic paths and minimize eddy current loss. Epoxy is employed to enhance structural strength for high torque transmission. The inner rotor has 4 pole pairs, while the outer one possesses 17; the stationary ring contains 21 ferromagnetic segments, derived from summing the pole-pair numbers of magnets on both rotors. Torque transmission between separated rotors is facilitated by magnetic field interaction.
