CNET magnetic mask clip
thingiverse
Having previously created a wide range of PPE devices on my 3D printer, I still hadn't found the perfect solution. Using mostly cloth masks (yes, carefully crafted by my mother) and more recently a black bandanna reminiscent of a stagecoach heist, I sought an effortless way to put on and take off my face covering while keeping it securely in place. I fired up a 3D design program, specifically the user-friendly (and free) browser-based Tinkercad, and began designing my own set of mask clips. One of my favorite 3D printing techniques is combining 3D printed parts with magnets to create more practical designs, so I sketched out a set of mask clips that don't require you to tie anything or latch plastic clips together. Instead, my clips use small magnets to lock together securely. In this case, I used magnets with an 8mm diameter and a 3mm depth, easily obtained at a hardware store but also readily available online as well.
