The updated design increases stability and raises the work area. The aluminum plate size is determined by weight, so I made the side gantry support square for added efficiency. This setup can accommodate a workspace of approximately 500mm x 700mm x 150mm. Cost breakdown includes four hybrid step motors ($57 each) with drivers (around $210 total), four tracks and ball screws ($310), aluminum profile ($80), spindle motor and driver (2.2kW, $200), an aluminum plate ($80), motor brackets and track covers ($40), a Mach3 board and joystick ($130), power supply and miscellaneous items ($100). The total estimated cost is approximately $1,070.
