CNC Router Directional Baffle
thingiverse
I have a custom-built CNC Router that, when I'm not using a dust collection enclosure, chips and dust are scattered everywhere due to the high volume airflow coming out of the base of the router. I designed this to fit on the bottom of the router, lining it up with existing nine vent slots. Eight of these slots are directed out of the baffle at a 90-degree angle. The remaining slot is bypassed to aim at the end of the router bit. This directs chips in one direction and minimizes total airflow to prevent excess airborne particles, yet still provides enough airflow to clear chips and dust from the end of the bit for clean cutting. This is specifically designed for a Bosch Router model 1617EVS, but may work on other routers with a 3.5-inch diameter base dimension. My next goal is to create a dust collection bracket that will attach to the router clamp to use in conjunction with this shroud.
